Marvelous!! I didn’t go to work yesterday. Not feeling well in the morning. Seriously!! And now am worried to send my leave application to my boss for next week (for my marriage tribunal). Cross your finger for me please!
Anyway, early in the morning, just about to sit on my chair, receive a call from my friend-cum-relative from Kuantan. She ask me to call her back because she has some deadly serious question to ask me. So I did call her…and she did ask me few question…it just not deadly serious question but almost makes me laugh, which makes me thinking back about the way of our society use to think/behave/believe. My own society, to be particularly.
She told me that in my village my family so famous about this miracles stone that my father possess. Last time, in our ancestor time (maybe in other society too), we believe in stone or whatever that bring luck and magic to the owner. With the stone his children suppose to be bright in school, hardworking and bring luck in whatever they did in school. I have no idea, all this while my village people think that way about my family. My friend even has story that almost like fairy tale story about how my father got the stone. She said, last time…long time ago, when father was travelling somewhere in the rural area of Sarawak he meets this old guy. For some reason this guy wanted to show my father the stone. When my father touch the stone, it broken into two pieces without any effort from my father. So, the guy had to give my father half of it and told him that the stone suppose to bring luck in study for his children. I have no idea this tale was spread through the whole village (God knows where else), and become a famous story.
Back to my friend. She married with one kid and stay at Kuantan, Pahang. She hopes that she could get a small piece of the stones. I ask her why she believes such a story that I never knew it was exist. She told me that my family has proven the stone really works. Well, I told her not really so, because my brother couldn’t make it in their study, in which she replied that the child must loves to read books. That means the stone only works on the child that loves to read books. Hilarious….if it’s true why my mother keep on complaining about my sister reading book while having dinner? I swear to her I didn’t know about the stone and I don’t think both of my parents know about it either.
Anyway, just for the record, they think that way because in my village, my parents has a good record in rising their child. My brother may have not make it to higher education, but everybody loves him and he could charm anybody with his silly jokes (even he don’t like that person). Seriously, he really good at it (something that I couldn’t do). Old people would wish my brother to be their son and young people would love to have him as their friend or boyfriend (if they are girls). Me, coincidently the first daughter of course the first one in the family going to further study to the highest one, coincidently the first one in my clan and coincidently the first one in the whole village. But, what you know….new generation always the better and always the best…..like my sisters, Cath and Cairoline. They are the best in their school (something I never did :-p)
So, conclusion, no stone. My family so open and so natural. We do not go to church, neither believe in such thing. It just the power of loves that my parents has and pass over to us and bonding we had between brothers and sisters.
But, if there is such a stone exist...why not!!! Loves to have one. hehehehe....
